Jessica Gengo

I moved to Oakwood in 2019 with my husband, Chris, who is VP of Operations at CareSource and my two daughters, Juliet and Riley. Moving to Ohio from Austin, Texas was not my idea, however, Chris had a wonderful job opportunity and when we came to see the area we instantly fell in love with Oakwood.

I have a degree in Film Production from Full Sail University in Orlando, FL. I have a love of film and theatrical effects. I worked in the industry for several years doing various “gofer” jobs. My career changed from film to professional photography, then Real Estate, and finally my favorite job full time … mom! My kids are now a 14 year old Freshman in High School and a 12 year older in Junior High. One is in the Marching Band and one is a Cheerleader so you’ll see me at all of the Football home games this year.

I joined The Mom‘s Club as soon as I moved here because I knew no one and had no family locally. I love Moms for giving me a community and friendships to cherish forever. This last year I was Co-Chair of the Cooking Club and we had a great year of events.

I’m so looking forward to leading this amazing group of Moms with my partner and dear friend Debbie Ross, who is a force. I know this will be a great year, Debbie and I will bring as much joy to it as we can muster.

Hello, moms!

For those of you I haven’t yet met, I’m super excited to introduce myself, first in this bio, and hopefully soon in person. (Fair warning: I am notoriously bad with names!) I completed my undergraduate degree at Denison University, and I have an MPA from Indiana University. I worked for many years at the national office of Big Brothers Big Sisters of America until deciding to be a stay-at-home mom. I was born in Pittsburgh, but my husband Rob and I lived in Philadelphia for almost 15 years. Then when he changed careers in 2019, we suddenly had the opportunity to live anywhere in the country, and we decided that Oakwood seemed like a perfect fit. I joined the Mom’s Club as soon as I knew that we were moving, and that was the best decision I have made!

Rob and I have four kids and a Sheepadoodle named Maggie. Our (foster) son Patrick is a student at Wright State University studying Computer Science and Cybersecurity, is a member of the National Guard, and was sworn in as a US citizen last fall. Our other son, Tennyson (11) is entering 6 th grade at Harman this fall. I spend half my life driving him to swim team practice. When he’s not in the water he can usually be found reading and hanging out with his bearded dragon. Delaney (10) will be starting 5 th grade. She is passionate about keeping the green spacesof Oakwood clean and recycling anything with three arrows on it. She discovered a love of horses this year and spends as many hours as we can manage at the barn riding. Millie (7) is going into 3 rd grade. She is the youngest but definitely the most outgoing member of the family. She absolutely loves her competitive dance team, cheerleading, and gymnastics, and is obsessed with listening to audio books – especially Harry Potter.

Sometimes I feel like a full-time scheduling coordinator, but when I have some extra time, I usually spend it reading, house shopping, or working on home improvement projects. I also volunteer as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) for children in Montgomery County, help out at Harman, and got to co-chair the Mom’s Club book club this past year. I look forward to being able to give back a little bit to the Mom’s Club this year as you all have given so much to me! One of my favorite things about our Club is the variety of fascinating women that I have met, included Jessica Gengo. I’m especially grateful to have Jess as co-President, as she is the person that always reminds me to look away from my to-do list and have some fun!
